Description
This is a 1.5 pointsession aimed at commercial and retail agents that is focussed on managing the risks involved in relation to disruption to trade during an upgrade or redevelopment of a shopping centre.
In the session we discuss the process and the risks under the following headings:
- Stakeholders including owner, architect, project manager, building union, builders, subcontractors and tenants.
- Challenges including noise, dust and onsite behaviour of builders and labourers.
- Managing and mitigating risks, proactively, contractually and regularly during construction.
- Restricted access
- Emotional responses from retailers
- Communication and managing expectations
This session will help practitioners to deal with the very real and often emotional response from retail tenants when their business and therefore their livelihood is disrupted by noise, mess and the chaos of a redevelopment.
